Southern Scentsations Inc. was founded on the concept that “necessity is the mother of invention”.
Beth Eggert began making candles in the late 1990s. She quickly found out that there were no candle supplies companies in the local area. So, in 1999, Beth and her husband, Doug started selling candle supplies at their house. They said it was a small start, with only 10 different scents and supplies for soy candles. Within two years, they had grown out of their home and opened a store in Flat Rock.
Ten years later, Beth and Doug had outgrown their first shop and moved into their current location in the old Kmart Plaza. They now supply everything needed for candles and all types of waxy fragrance melts. They also added bath and body supplies, everything needed for balms, scrubs, soaps and much more. When asked why their business has been so successful, Beth stated, they are the only wholesale location in southeast Michigan. They have people travel all the way from Windsor Ontario, Traverse City in northern Michigan, Chicago Illinios, as well as locally. Beth said their customers have been incredibly loyal, some customers from when it was still just a home based operation.
Southern Scentsation Inc. website has a long list of items for purchase and can be shipped nationwide. They offer candle making classes and offer them for free if you buy a candle kit. Beth and Doug also offer bath bomb classes and cold process classes.
