The Varsity Barn is April 2019 Business of the Month

April 4, 2019 By Joe Pagano

The Varsity Barn Flat Rock, Mi

The Varsity Barn is a new addition to our Flat Rock business community!

The Varsity Barn, Formerly Do San’s, still offers many of the same services that most of the community has come to know the location for over the years.

Jimmy and Tricia started this journey over a year ago, purchasing Do San’s building.
Jimmy is a life-long Flat Rock resident with a dream to open an apparel store in Flat Rock. As Jimmy and Tricia’s family grew, they wanted the opportunity to have their children with them as they worked.
Purchasing Do San’s store was the perfect fit for what they wanted and they took the plunge,
Tricia left her nursing job, Jimmy got his apparel store in Flat Rock, and you can find them, their two children and their Boxer dog, Dozer (the store mascot!), there as they run and operate The Varsity Barn.

The Varsity Barn has a lot to offer:
• Sublimated Team Uniforms
• Varsity Jackets
• Spirit Wear
• Embroidery
• Laser Engraving
• Trophies
• Screen Printing

Jimmy and Tricia said the sublimated team uniforms and Varsity Jackets are their biggest sellers. They have had a lot of support from the Flat Rock community businesses, the Flat Rock Police department, Flat Rock Fire Department and Flat Rock City Hall as well as Huron, Carlson and Woodhaven sports teams.

You must stop and see all that The Varsity Barn has to offer. They are currently doing major renovations. The improvements are a pleasant sight to a historic building in Flat Rock. Jimmy and Tricia are happy to show you all they have to offer, and Dozer would be super excited to see everyone, too!

The Varsity Barn is also supporting The Cruzin’ Flat Rock Car and Truck Show which is part of the Flat Rock Summer Blast this June.

WELCOME TO FLAT ROCK

The first Euro-American settlers in Flat Rock were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons between 1811 and 1820. Michael had been captured by British Rangers during the Revolutionary War and released after American independence.

The family purchased 800 acres (3.2 km2). The town was called the Village of Vreeland until 1838 when the Vreeland family sold off the majority of the land and relinquished control of the area. The Vreeland families built the first grain and lumber mill, having brought the grinding stones from New York.

Descendants of Michael Vreeland still live in the town and attend Flat Rock public schools, being the seventh generation to reside in the town their family founded.
