Leo’s Coney Island is located at 26988 Telegraph Rd, Flat Rock, MI 48134. Leo’s is located in the CVS plaza at the intersection of Telegraph and Vreeland and owned by Hass Shami and family.
The Shami family has been in business at Leo’s Coney Island Flat Rock for 5 years. They have been active supporters of Flat Rock events since opening the restaurant in 2016. Leo’s has participated in the Taste of Flat Rock, Flat Rock Passport Program and have supported schools with donations. They actively supported the Summerblast and Riverfest festivals, providing food entrées at the VIP tent. Additionally, all first responders, firefighters and police receive discounts. As with many of our restaurants, COVID has affected their daily operations, all orders are takeout only or during openings, the restaurant was limited to 25% occupancy. Employees have taken the limited service especially hard as servers were either not needed or reduced as were the cooks. Community support during this time period is appreciated, orders can be ordered and delivered thru DoorDash, GrubHub, Menufy and UberEats or ordered for carry out at 734-789-7757. What they would really appreciate is shout outs on social media, sharing pictures and support from the community.

Flat Rock Our Hometown and the Downtown Development Authority will be featuring a Flat Rock Restaurant weekly for the next 10 weeks- The stories will be written by our members.
Michael’s On the River has long been a favorite on our little section of Telegraph Rd. As a member of the Flat Rock community for 22 years, Michael’s has always been the perfect place to grab some delicious food and a cold drink.
For as much as we love them, the team at Michael’s has always given back the same appreciation to their cherished community. Michael’s On the River has sponsored our Flat Rock football team, supported our Rotary Club, and participated in the Christmas passport program. Beyond this, they have been very generous in food donations, feeding the staff at our annual Flat Rock River-Fest.
Through this very difficult year, Michael’s has seen about an 80% decrease in their normal business. Michael’s On The River, like many restaurants, has faced one of the most challenging years to date.
To show how much we all love Michael’s, we hope you might choose them for your next takeout night!

The first Euro-American settlers in Flat Rock were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons between 1811 and 1820. Michael had been captured by British Rangers during the Revolutionary War and released after American independence.
The family purchased 800 acres (3.2 km2). The town was called the Village of Vreeland until 1838 when the Vreeland family sold off the majority of the land and relinquished control of the area. The Vreeland families built the first grain and lumber mill, having brought the grinding stones from New York.
Descendants of Michael Vreeland still live in the town and attend Flat Rock public schools, being the seventh generation to reside in the town their family founded.
