The 8th annual “Chalk The Walk” takes place on Saturday June 5th at HuRoc Park from 11AM to 1PM. Chalk The Walk is presented FREE to the public. This annual event is a family fun event where artist of all ages can stop by HuRoc Park on Arsenal Road in Downtown Flat Rock and show their skills. This eight Annual Event is presented by Flat Rock Our Hometown and the Flat Rock Downtown Development Authority. Chalk the Walk is sponsored by Michelle Davis Group at RE/MAX Masters, Flat Rock who provides the chalk to artist of all ages, and Biggby Coffee of Flat Rock who will provide drinks for the young ones.

The Chris Canas Band, Detroit’s Prince of the Blues, comes to Flat Rock this Thursday at HuRoc Park. Don’t miss this opportunity to spend two hours enjoying Blues, Funk, Soul and Motown music.
Chris attended Ann Arbor School of performing arts in the Jazz group. He fall in love the guitar and began playing every day. Chris writes, arranges and performs all of his music. His goal is to take blues to the younger generation and keep it alive for his veteran fans. His dream is for everyone to love blues as much as he does.
The Chris Canas Band will play at HuRoc Park in Flat Rock Thursday July 8th from 6:30 to 8:30. His performance is brought to you by Flat Rock Our Hometown and supported by the Flat Rock DDA.

The first Euro-American settlers in Flat Rock were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons between 1811 and 1820. Michael had been captured by British Rangers during the Revolutionary War and released after American independence.
The family purchased 800 acres (3.2 km2). The town was called the Village of Vreeland until 1838 when the Vreeland family sold off the majority of the land and relinquished control of the area. The Vreeland families built the first grain and lumber mill, having brought the grinding stones from New York.
Descendants of Michael Vreeland still live in the town and attend Flat Rock public schools, being the seventh generation to reside in the town their family founded.
