The Flat Rock Riverfest Committee says “Thanks” to everyone who supported it and everyone who attended. “From the entertainment to the venders, everything was first class.”, was a comment from a local citizen after walking around this year’s Riverfest. She enjoyed the music of Alexander Zonjic and his band. A comment from another local citizen was that everyone they talked to said this was done after a 10 year gap. Mayor Jonathan Dropiewski was on stage in the
evening and thanked Gary Bordon and the entire Riverfest Committee for all of its hard work and thanked the citizens for attending after a long awaited return.

The New Flat Rock Farmer’s Market
The Farmers Market is in its third week at the new location across from Huroc Park. This weeks new vendor addition is the Flat Rock Eastern Star Book Sales. Suzette Eppley was on site selling “Family Traditions” Recipes. Eastern Star is a Non-Profit Organization and the profits from the sales will go to supporting scholarships, holiday meals and camp for children with learning disabilities among others.
The Flat Rock Market is a “Made In Michigan” market. The market customers like the idea of Michigan and locally grown. The market will remain across from Huroc Park through Mid-October and will continue to be open every Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Shirley Moore from Wayne-Metropolitan Community Action Agency (Wayne-Metro) has been excited about the number of customers. We have had over 200 for each week since we have moved here.
The Flat Rock DDA is the sponsor of Farmer’s Market. This past weekend August 20th included; Michigan Blueberries, fresh Michigan vegetables, Made in Michigan cookies, Flat Rock Eastern Star and fresh and locally made pasta. This past weekend we did not have added entertainment but expect to bring it back next weekend. We are also looking for to add a coffee vendor next week and the Michigan Popcorn booth will return.
So stop by the park every Saturday between 10 AM and 4 PM and pick up some fresh picked, from the farm, fruits and vegetables, relax and listen to entertainment. Huroc Park is great place to spend a day with friends and family walking on the bike path, fishing or a good old fashion picnic. Please come back to the downtownflatrock.com web site for more information on the new vendors next weekend.
