The all-new 2013 gasoline engine Ford Fusions are expected to be built in Flat Rock, Michigan.
This should add a second shift of 1,200, expanding the workforce to 3,000. Ford unveiled the 2013 Ford Fusion at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The all-new 2013 Fusion is expected to be popular enough to warrant spending $555 million to retool the plant in Flat Rock according to a January 9, 2012 freep.com business article.
The current Fusion is built in Hermosillo, Mexico. Ford thinks the redesigned model will outsell that factory’s capacity. The Fusion Hybrid and the Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid will be built in Mexico. The Fusion was one of the best selling cars in 2011.
