The 8th Annual Chalk The Walk is Saturday June 4th at HuRoc Park

The 8th annual “Chalk The Walk” takes place on Saturday June 5th at HuRoc Park from 11AM to 1PM. Chalk The Walk is presented FREE to the public. This annual event is a family fun event where artist of all ages can stop by HuRoc Park on Arsenal Road in Downtown Flat Rock and show their skills. This eight Annual Event is presented by Flat Rock Our Hometown and the Flat Rock Downtown Development Authority. Chalk the Walk is sponsored by Michelle Davis Group at RE/MAX Masters, Flat Rock who provides the chalk to artist of all ages, and Biggby Coffee of Flat Rock who will provide drinks for the young ones.

We thank both of these local businesses for their support.

Artist of all ages are welcome to draw on the walkway around HuRoc Park.

  • Chalk will be provided in various colors to the First 100 Artists.

  • An adult must be present to chaperone any artiest under 13 years old.

  • Families, School and Church Groups are all WELLCOME!

  • The important thing is to HAVE FUN

This year’s annual “Chalk The Walk” takes place on Saturday June 5th at HuRoc Park from 11AM to 1PM. Chalk The Walk is presented FREE to the public. Fifth Annual Chalk The Fifth Annual Chalk the Walk at HuRoc Park, Flat Rock Michigan

This year’s annual “Chalk The Walk” takes place on Saturday June First at HuRoc Park from 11AM to 1PM. Chalk The Walk is presented FREE to the public. This fifth Annual Event is presented by Flat Rock Our Hometown and the Flat Rock Downtown Development Authority. Chalk the Walk is where children of all ages along with their families and friends can draw on the walkway at the HuRoc Park in downtown Flat Rock. The event is sponsored by Michelle Davis at ReMax Masters, Flat Rock who provides the chalk to artist of all ages, and Biggby Coffee of Flat Rock who will provide drinks.

Thanks to both of these local businesses.

WELCOME TO FLAT ROCK

The first Euro-American settlers in Flat Rock were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons between 1811 and 1820. Michael had been captured by British Rangers during the Revolutionary War and released after American independence.

The family purchased 800 acres (3.2 km2). The town was called the Village of Vreeland until 1838 when the Vreeland family sold off the majority of the land and relinquished control of the area. The Vreeland families built the first grain and lumber mill, having brought the grinding stones from New York.

Descendants of Michael Vreeland still live in the town and attend Flat Rock public schools, being the seventh generation to reside in the town their family founded.
