Point and Shoot Camera Class Saturday June 20, 2015

Have you ever wondered what all those dials on your point and shoot camera are?

Would you like to know how to use your camera and get some great pictures?

Well, with a little instruction and practice you can learn.

The Flat Rock DDA and Our Home Town-Flat Rock is sponsoring a Point-And-Shoot class on Saturday June 20, 2015 with a picture review class on August 1st.  The class starts at Noon to 1:30 PM.  The review class will start at Noon and last less than an hour.  The class and review meet at Simpler Times  26314 Huron River Dr, Flat Rock, MI 48134.  The class will than walk to HuRoc Park.  In this class you will learn how your camera works.  The class will be instructed by Flat Rock resident and professional photographer Jeff Thomas and assisted by Joe Pagano.  In the class session you will learn about your camera and how to take a picture with YOUR camera.  You will then have until the review session on August 1st to practice what you learned in the class.  In the review session Jeff and Joe will review your best shots with you and the class will choose your best picture.  They will be framed and displayed at the FR Community Center until Curzin Weekend.  The class is limited to 12 students.  The cost is only $5.00 includes coffee at Simpler Times during class instruction.

 

What should you bring to class?

  • Your camera, fully charged,
  • Your camera book and
  • Of course $5.00 for the class.

What else will you need?

  • A CD or thumb drive to put your best shots on.

Other general rules;

  • All pictures must be taken in the City of Flat Rock, preferably HuRoc Park.

You will get a conformation email with a number.  Registration is limited to 12 students with 2 alternates if others drop out prior to class.

WELCOME TO FLAT ROCK

The first Euro-American settlers in Flat Rock were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons between 1811 and 1820. Michael had been captured by British Rangers during the Revolutionary War and released after American independence.

The family purchased 800 acres (3.2 km2). The town was called the Village of Vreeland until 1838 when the Vreeland family sold off the majority of the land and relinquished control of the area. The Vreeland families built the first grain and lumber mill, having brought the grinding stones from New York.

Descendants of Michael Vreeland still live in the town and attend Flat Rock public schools, being the seventh generation to reside in the town their family founded.
