The Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of the Nutrition Club at 26452 West Huron River Drive, Flat Rock Mi., was November 21 st . Owners, Jeff and Donna Langton, opened the business with the goal of helping people with their nutrition and promote good health. During their business hours of 7 am-2 pm Monday-Friday, people can stop in for a breakfast or lunch, that consists of a delicious meal shake that is low calorie, packed full of protein and includes all the nutrients a person needs in a meal. Also included is an energy tea and a shot of aloe to drink. The Langton’s and the other Health Coaches at Nutrition Hub offer free wellness profiles where they give a person nutrition tips based on what they are already doing and recommend a nutrition plan for them. They currently hold a weight loss challenge in the evening and will start a new challenge in January.

Every Tuesday night from 7-8 pm there is a special free event. The events rotate weekly between a Wellness Workshop, a Shake Party, a Client Recognition Night and a Skin Party/Demo. In the spring there are plans to involve people in walking, running and/or biking groups.

Nutrition Hub is all about a healthy active lifestyle. After both changing their nutrition habits 14 years ago and getting their weight in a healthy range, the Langton’s started helping others. They operated a Nutrition Club in Monroe for the past 6 years that has a positive impacted that community and they are excited about bringing that same positivity and results to Flat Rock.

WELCOME TO FLAT ROCK

The first Euro-American settlers in Flat Rock were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons between 1811 and 1820. Michael had been captured by British Rangers during the Revolutionary War and released after American independence.

The family purchased 800 acres (3.2 km2). The town was called the Village of Vreeland until 1838 when the Vreeland family sold off the majority of the land and relinquished control of the area. The Vreeland families built the first grain and lumber mill, having brought the grinding stones from New York.

Descendants of Michael Vreeland still live in the town and attend Flat Rock public schools, being the seventh generation to reside in the town their family founded.
