Help support the fight against cancer by stopping by Flat Rock’s Relay for Life. The event is running until 10am tomorrow, at the Flat Rock High School.
There are 17 teams participating this year, according to American Cancer Society staff partner, Breanne Finkelberg. So far they have raised about $20,000.
“We’ve been really trying to get the life back into the event, the youth, the fun,” said Finkelberg.
And it is fun. They have music and themed walks, like a crazy hat lap.
The event is free and open to the public.
“It’s a big misconception about relay: they see relay for life and they think they have to have a team,” said Finkelberg.
All of the teams are selling goods or holding games. Some are selling baked goods like cookies and brownies, while others are selling crafts and baskets. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
“We really want the public to come out,” said Finkelberg.
It is open to Flat Rock residents, along with residents from the surrounding communities. So come on out, buy a cookie, and help find a cure.
Flat Rock High School is located on 25600 Seneca St. For more information on getting involved, send an email to breanne.finkelberg@cancer.com
