Get a Little Country with Flat Rock’s Country Blast!

RiverfestLogo_v4-242x300Take a step into Texas with Flat Rock’s first Country Blast in the Park on Saturday, June 15th. This free event will feature live music from famous local bands. Kids will be able to join in on line dancing, an activity tent, jump in inflatables and more. Adults can try their luck on the wild mechanical bull after a round in the beer tent. At the end of the night, sit back and enjoy the fireworks.  Rain date for the fireworks is Sunday June 16th.

The Flat Rock Model Train Depot and Museum will be open the day of the festival and will be free to the public.

The Country Blast is taking place at Huroc Park on Arsenal Road in Flat Rock.

Noon-1:00 Daniel Harrison and the $2 Highway

1:30-2:30 Dale Vaughn

3:00-4:00 Annabelle Road

4:30-5:30 Jo Caine

6:00-7:00 The Kate Hasting Band

7:30-8:45 Doop and the Inside Outlaws
9:15-10:30 Ty Stone and the Truth

Fireworks to follow the music.

WELCOME TO FLAT ROCK

The first Euro-American settlers in Flat Rock were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons between 1811 and 1820. Michael had been captured by British Rangers during the Revolutionary War and released after American independence.

The family purchased 800 acres (3.2 km2). The town was called the Village of Vreeland until 1838 when the Vreeland family sold off the majority of the land and relinquished control of the area. The Vreeland families built the first grain and lumber mill, having brought the grinding stones from New York.

Descendants of Michael Vreeland still live in the town and attend Flat Rock public schools, being the seventh generation to reside in the town their family founded.
