Make to sure arrive early for this huge flea market. Parking is free, but arriving early means getting the closest spots, making it easier to run back to the car to drop off a great purchase.

And there will be many great purchases to be found. There are usually over 300 vendors selling their wares. You can find jewelry, antiques, toys, furniture, and more. If you can think of it, it is probably there being sold.

Make sure to stop by the “Deal on the Hill” to shop for some great bargains. The Deal on the Hill is located on the hill backing up to the race track. They are known to give great deals on their furniture. But you can also find jewelry, books, clothes, home goods, and more. You never know what treasure you will find in one of their boxes.

Don’t eat breakfast before you come to the flea market. Instead, stop by the concession stand! They usually sell hamburgers, hot dogs, doughnuts and candy. You can also purchase a pop or coffee.

If you would rather satisfy your sweet tooth in the early morning, check out the Historical Society’s bake sale. They always have the most delicious selection of goods. You can pick up muffins, cookies, brownies and cupcakes. You can’t go wrong buying breakfast here.

If you would like to become a vendor, please call the Flat Rock Historical Society at (734) 782-5220. A 20’ x 20’ space cost $40. Payment for the space will be collected at the gate. You must park your vehicle on your vending site. Make sure to bring your own tables, as they will not be provided. Please be advised that you are not allowed to sell food or used clothing.

WELCOME TO FLAT ROCK

The first Euro-American settlers in Flat Rock were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons between 1811 and 1820. Michael had been captured by British Rangers during the Revolutionary War and released after American independence.

The family purchased 800 acres (3.2 km2). The town was called the Village of Vreeland until 1838 when the Vreeland family sold off the majority of the land and relinquished control of the area. The Vreeland families built the first grain and lumber mill, having brought the grinding stones from New York.

Descendants of Michael Vreeland still live in the town and attend Flat Rock public schools, being the seventh generation to reside in the town their family founded.
