New Year’s Resolution

We know that a lot of folks make New Year’s Resolutions. Flat Rock resident if you have made a resolution to lose weight or exercise more this is your chance to get a 15% discount from Your Community center membership. This discount is good to the end of the week.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO REGISTER:

  1. Determine the pass plan best for you
  2. Come to the Community Center
  3. Complete the application
  4. Bring Documentation (Documentation will be required to verify your rate category, Proof of City of Flat Rock residency, full-time student status, and other legal dependent status will be required).  Documents considered:
    • Driver’s license (required)
    • City tax return or bill
    • Current paycheck stub
    • Current utility bill
    • Car registration
    • Voter registration card
    • Rental contract or ownership papers
    • College identification card with proof of full-time status
    • IRS tax forms
    • School registration or report card (school resident rate)
    • Proof of other legal dependent status

  1. Year Members & 6 Month Members may bring up to 5 guests per visit at a rate of $5/person.  The guest must enter the facility at the same time as the member to receive the discounted rate. WELCOME TO FLAT ROCK

The first Euro-American settlers in Flat Rock were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons between 1811 and 1820. Michael had been captured by British Rangers during the Revolutionary War and released after American independence.

The family purchased 800 acres (3.2 km2). The town was called the Village of Vreeland until 1838 when the Vreeland family sold off the majority of the land and relinquished control of the area. The Vreeland families built the first grain and lumber mill, having brought the grinding stones from New York.

Descendants of Michael Vreeland still live in the town and attend Flat Rock public schools, being the seventh generation to reside in the town their family founded.
