ABOUT

The City of Flat Rock Downtown Development Authority (DDA) recently worked with a professional designer as part of a larger project that developed a marketing and branding campaign of which the new City logo was a component. Above, you see the final result and the new banners that will be installed throughout Flat Rock this Summer!

We are excited to present the new banners which give businesses and organizations an excellent opportunity to advertise by sponsoring a banner! We also have two (2) new locations in town this year, the Civic Center district near City Hall and the Gateway district near I-75 and Gibraltar. This area also includes Hall Road, Commerce, Gateway and our beautiful Community Center! Time to get your business or organization in front of new eyes in different parts of the City! Maps are attached for easy reference.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

It’s easy! Complete the attached registration form and let us know which specific banner or in which area you would like your business or organization to be seen. There is room on the form to select one or several banners…whatever you feel fits your business or organization best.

Also be advised that the Flat Rock DDA Banner Program is a first right of refusal program. This means once you choose your location, it’s yours until you decide you don’t want it anymore (and a reason you may not get your first choice of location). Other than that, it’s first come, first served!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The Flat Rock DDA strives to help promote its businesses. When you compare our costs to those of more traditional advertising, we take your ad dollars further!

If you have never participated in the program before, there is an initial fee of $150 for each banner that includes your sponsorship tab and your first year of sponsorship. After that, the DDA will rehang your sponsorship tab in the same location for $60 per banner, per year. Interested in saving some $? Sign up for three (3) years in the same location and pay only $150 per banner.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?

Do you need more information? Something not quite making sense? We have just the person to help. You can give

Liz Hendley a call from 8:00a.m. to 4:30.pm at 734-789-2323. Shoot her an email at ehendley@flatrockmi.org. Or…stop in at City Hall (although appointments are recommended) and ask for Economic Development and let’s get your business or organization in front of lots of potential customers!

WELCOME TO FLAT ROCK

The first Euro-American settlers in Flat Rock were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons between 1811 and 1820. Michael had been captured by British Rangers during the Revolutionary War and released after American independence.

The family purchased 800 acres (3.2 km2). The town was called the Village of Vreeland until 1838 when the Vreeland family sold off the majority of the land and relinquished control of the area. The Vreeland families built the first grain and lumber mill, having brought the grinding stones from New York.

Descendants of Michael Vreeland still live in the town and attend Flat Rock public schools, being the seventh generation to reside in the town their family founded.
