Abby’s Mutt Hut Pet Grooming
As far back as she can remember, Abby wanted to work with pets. She started on that path at a young age. At only 16, Abby started working at Pet Supplies Plus . Abby soon went to “I Love my Pet” as a pet care specialist, working specifically as a bather, until she became comfortable doing simple shaves on rescue animals at the Humane Society, cats quickly becoming her specialty, Abby practiced her skills with shelter cats that badly needed grooming and attention. In 2013, Abby started working at “Bubble Puppy” and from there, The Dirty Dog, continuing her education, she learned even more from her peers.
In 2016 she opened Abby’s Mutt Hut. Abby started with 150 customers, but within three years gained five employees and 1500 customers, as well as expanded her salon. Abby feels her quick success is built from her passion for the animals, her drive to continue to learn (even after 8 years in the trade) and of course her hardworking Team: Kelli, Dakota, Sydney, Leanna, and her assistant Kelsey. Abby has also trained groomers, with her current assistant is learning to groom under her guidance.
The continued training that Abby and her staff received at grooming seminars has resulted in Abby’s Mutt Hut being on the road to being AKC safe certified, First Aid certified, and proper skin care and sanitization certified.
Abby’s Mut Hut has been a welcome business to our Flat Rock community participating in Flat Rock events and supporting many local organizations. October 26th is their annual Howl-O-Ween costume party, all proceeds is of the raffle baskets go to the Flat Rock animal shelter. You can check out Abby’s Mut Hut Facebook for more details. (Link Below.)
Abby feels that the Flat Rock community is just as rewarding, stating that 60% of their business is Flat rock residents, noting “they are genuine, hardworking people and very loyal.”
Please check out Abby’s Mut Hut to find friendly staff and furry friends that are always happy to see you. Most importantly, don’t forget Jake, the multi colored (poodleX) who is the most excited to greet you at the door. Abby loves your pet as if it is her own and her staff as just the same.
We love that Abby’s Mutt Hut calls Flat Rock its home.

The first Euro-American settlers in Flat Rock were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons between 1811 and 1820. Michael had been captured by British Rangers during the Revolutionary War and released after American independence.
The family purchased 800 acres (3.2 km2). The town was called the Village of Vreeland until 1838 when the Vreeland family sold off the majority of the land and relinquished control of the area. The Vreeland families built the first grain and lumber mill, having brought the grinding stones from New York.
Descendants of Michael Vreeland still live in the town and attend Flat Rock public schools, being the seventh generation to reside in the town their family founded.
