Attention Artist of ALL Ages, the Flat Rock DDA in coordination with the Flat Rock “Our Hometown Committee” is sponsoring the 3rd Annual Chalk the Walk on June 3rd from Noon to 2 PM. In the past we have had artist from 2 to 52 drawing their favorite cartoon character, future houses, the State Of Michigan mitten sun rises, flowers and many other fun objects on the half mile oval walkway starting near the walking bridge.
Chalk the Walk is a FREE event that families, schools, church groups or any other organization can join in on. There will be FREE chalk to the first 50 artist provided by Michelle Davis of ReMax Masters of Flat Rock. We will have water and cool-aid available during operation hours. We ask that adults be present for those under 13 years and under.

O’Reilly Auto Parts is celebrating the opening of its new Flat Rock store with a Customer Appreciation Day that will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 20.
The newest store in Flat Rock is located at 27517 Telegraph Road.
Store Manager Dave Dyer says that the customer Appreciation Day is part of a two-week grand opening celebration that began earlier this week and runs through May 30.
Liz Hendley, Flat Rock’s economic development director, said that the ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at noon. The store is providing a lunch that will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Al Beck and 101 WRIF radio station conduct a live radio remote broadcast from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. WRIF will be giving you the chance to spin the prize wheel for a chance to win some AWESOME Riff swag.
During the celebration, Dave Dyer will present a $200 check to VFW Post 4230. Dyer said O’Reilly Auto Parts is honored “to be a part of such a worthwhile organization.

Wayne County will host a construction update on Tuesday May 16, 2017 at the Flat Rock Community Center, 1 Maguire St just south of Gibraltar and west of I-75. The meeting is scheduled from 6-8 PM.
Wayne County Commissioner Raymond Basham will host with the following information;
- Construction Update
- Construction Detour information
- Steps taken by road agencies to alleviate traffic concerns
- Questions and Answers from the public
Representatives from the Michigan Department of Transportation and Wayne County Public Services will join in the discussion.

The Spring Flee market is held rain or shine. This event usually attracts more than 200 dealers and eight to ten-thousand shoppers. The Flat Rock Speedway (14041 Telegraph) located 1 mile south of Flat Rock, on Telegraph Road (US 24).
The vendors sell everything from antiques, movies, tools, furniture and anything else you can imagine. Don’t forget to check out the famous “deal on the hill.” If you get hungry, you can stop by the concession stand for the perfect flea market hot dog. If you are in the mood for a little something sweeter, check out the Historical Society bake sale, where you can get some of the best sweets made in Flat Rock.
