The Huron River Fishing Association announced its 22nd Annual Bass Tournament winners at Huroc Park on Saturday May26, 2012. The first place winner was Chad Fisher. His catch was a 18 inch 3.68 pound Largemouth Bass. Taking Second Place was Scott Deschamps with a 17 ½ inch Smallmouth Bass weighing 3.61 pounds. And taking Third Place was Bryan Bass. Bryan’s catch was a Smallmouth Bass at 17 ½ inches weighing 3.19 pounds. The first place winner chooses from 3 prizes, a $50 certificate and a trophy, or one of two fishing poles and reels. Flat Rock Speedway is hosting the 1st annual Joy Fair Memorial 100 Saturday evening, June 23.
Last December 10, Joy Fair passed away at the age of 81, who was known as a tradition and big winner in short track racing history. He was often viewed as the racer to beat.
Bob Fox of Diamond Racing Products, to honor Fair’s more than 6 decades of racking and a former competitor, stepped forward to sponsor this special event.
Flat Rock Speedway served as Joy’s home track. Joy Fair was LATE MODEL racing in Midwest-Michigan – AND always a winner.

The Huron River Fishing Association is sponsoring the 22nd Annual Bass Tournament at Huroc Park on Saturday May26, 2012. Starting time will be at 8 AM running until 2 PM. Any can sign up on site at the Gazebo. The cost of entry is only $6.00. First, second and third prizes will be awarded for the single largest fish by weight. The 2012 City of Flat Rock Riverfest will be a two day event. It will be held on Saturday and Sunday September 15-16, 2012.

Mayor Jonathan Dropiewski is teaming up with the Detroit Pistons to recognize those who make a difference in the city through their “Come Together” program.
Residents can nominate themselves or others using the form at www.flatrockmi.org or by picking up a form in the city clerk’s or Building Department’s offices.
Nominations are due Feb. 24 and those selected will be notified by Feb. 28.
Residents can submit the nominations at City Hall or by emailing the mayor at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Winners will be recognized during a council meeting for their contributions to the city and will receive four tickets to the March 9 Pistons game against the Atlanta Hawks at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
The ticket pack also includes a parking pass and vouchers for discounted food and merchandise.
Those who would like to attend the game can order tickets through a special website on Ticketmaster and the team will donate $5 from each purchase to the Flat Rock Community Foundation.
