Memorial Day is a day for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces. The holiday, which is currently observed every year on the last Monday of May, will be held on May 28, 2018. The holiday was originally celebrated on May 30 until 1970. It marks the unofficial start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks summers end.

Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. In Flat Rock our Memorial Day parade starts on Division and Gibraltar near the old High School and ends at the memorial at City Hall.
